. They appeared "clear" but were stained, meaning the black substance was not peeling off. The ones that haven't been dyed are fine - they definitely won't absorb liquid, but they're very strong and rough enough to make great business towels. They're not white either, more grey/taupe, but who needs clean white shop towels anyway. They don't do very well as a replacement for paper towels -- entirely different options. If it weren't for the stains only rated as shop towel I would give them at least 4 stars.
