Review on Gigabyte GeForce GT 1030 OC 2G Graphics Card (GV-N1030OC-2GI) by Nvidia by Jason Olguin

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So far, so good! (non gaming)

I got my GT 1030 OC from Revain Warehouse Deals (AWD) today and installed it straight away on my 11 year old HP Pavilion Elite M9200t [Intel Core2 Quad CPU Q9450 @ 2.66GHz 2, 67GHz, 8GB memory, Win10 64-bit, PCIe 2.0}. Easier than ever and backward compatible with PCIe 2.0. Aorus Engine, mainly for temperature control due to previous experience of graphics card overheating (non-gaming). I'm replacing a seven year old EVGA GT 520 card that recently had a fan issue - it stops spinning at the wrong time and overheats. (I've used compressed air and a vacuum a few times in the last two months to remove any dust particles that may not be visible, which helps for a while). Last week I tried a quiet, unobtrusive Gigabyte GT 1030 in an open box (4WD) but after a few minutes it seemed to get pretty hot despite some fans on my PC so it suddenly restarted multiple times. It also had a heatsink that was so tall it smashed the FireWire connector on my motherboard. I'm not sure if this has anything to do with the high temperature and numerous reboots. I had to send it back. My PSU is 385W and that's not the limit so it's not. This GT 1030 SC is not as big as the fanless GT 1030, so it sits well below the FireWire connector and works perfectly without reinstallation. loading problems. During normal PC use (no gaming, just watching videos, web surfing, MS Office, etc.), the temperature remained at around 37°(C). So far this card seems to be a perfect replacement for an old PC like mine or a newer machine. My review does NOT reflect that I chose AWD to save a few bucks on a new item. I have nothing against an open box product as long as it works as it should. I confess that when I first saw the condition of the box I was concerned about the condition of the card, but the card seems to be working fine. The description of the AWD item was correct. Everything works perfectly! :o) UPDATE 04/25/2019: Three months later this card still works perfectly on my 11 year old HP Pavilion Elite M9200t (no "games", only Microsoft Office 2016, graphics/photo editing, some video editing, internet, digitizing u machine embroidery patterns, etc.)
