Difficult to see during programming

Although the multi cooker works very well, the screens do not light up during programming, making them difficult to see. I had to tilt everything against the light to see what was going on. Once programmed, the screen lights up. Seems a bit delayed. It is best to use the backlight for both programming and operational modes. I bought this slow cooker to replace one that had an automatic high-to-low switch once the ingredients were boiling. I couldn't find a suitable one, so I had to replace it with this one. It's a bit tricky to figure out how long it takes for the ingredients to cook, so I played around with it the first two times. Chili (my favorite jug dish) took two hours on high with all the ingredients at room temperature. I then manually turned it to low to maintain a long boil for four hours. I think it's good that it automatically switches to "warm" mode after the programming time has expired. The hooks holding the lid (for travel, NOT while cooking - per the instructions) protrude past the edges of the unit causing a minor obstruction issue. Also, the cable is VERY short. barely 10 inches. That means I have to plug it into an extension cord to put the stove where I want it, away from other things on the counter that can be affected by outside heat. I am not in favor of using an extension cord. for household appliances, especially when I'm not at home, but I had no choice.
