More cons than pros

I've used it in different rooms all day to really test and feel it. I usually use a Bissell steam mop and am happy with its performance, but decided to try this Shark mop. It's really brilliant in some ways, but other than that I was disappointed. Firstly, the fact that you can flip the mop head and pad to use the other side is really a brilliant idea and saves time. I usually use 3-4 pads when making a whole house. Although this steam mop technically only comes with 2 pads, if you turn it over and use it again that equates to 4 pads before you need a brand new pad. I really like this idea. The front of the carpet is thin and flat and goes deeper under low furniture, stovetops, etc. Another aspect that I really like. I have a large cherry cabinet in the kitchen that doubles as a pantry. It has a carved bottom so things don't get there. My Bissell can't go as deep as this shark. Filling the tank is very easy. It has a tall thin hopper similar to my Bissell. It's more convenient and reliable than the kind with bottles that detach to fill - everything I've had with a bottle has ended up requiring a bottle change because the bottleneck always breaks one way or another. and it is also available with different brands of mops. There's a second stick and grip that you can use like a Swiffer, mostly without the steam. A cleaner spray bottle is included so you can spray and wipe, but you can actually use any cleaner I'm sure. You can also save yourself the hassle of reversing polarity and just leave the cord wrapped around the steam body, don't plug it in and just spray on the cleaner and wipe as usual. Having a second pole also means having a place to store it. It's not something you can just hide in a drawer and is actually meant to be hung up. The cable is quite long. There is only one button - the power button - and no vape options like high, low, etc. I've never used it with just one setting. So far this doesn't seem to be a big problem. but more on that later. The handle is quite comfortable to use. It's a big circle, there are no buttons or anything on it. The cover can be removed quickly and easily. There's a release button that opens the head like a butterfly and the pillow pops out instantly. No more hot fingers or toes trying to get the pad off. The head turns well and maneuvers appropriately. Now for the things I'm having trouble with which is why I lowered the star count. Most of them are the cons of the pros, almost blurring the pros. First, the device doesn't get up on its own, or I couldn't figure out how to get it to get up on its own. It's meant to be hung on the wall when in use, so I'm guessing it just won't stand on its own, period. The design of the head and the fact that it can tip over seems to be the reason why it doesn't stand up. Leaning him against a wall or other furniture will not work in most cases as he will not only fall back and forth but also fall back and forth. It's LOVELY! Whether you need to quickly move a piece of furniture, pick something up off the floor, unplug it and put it in a different outlet, or refill water, you basically have to take this mop with you because it doesn't like to get up. or lean against something!. A circular pin will not help in this situation. It's hard plastic, no rubberized area so no chance of it even snagging on a wall etc. Oh, it can stay propped for a second but then falls off quickly. They should have thought more about it and made the handle flat on one side or at least rubberized the handle so it can tip, at least without falling over. The point is that the head just spins and you can use the other side, meaning the vapor comes out of the top and bottom pair at the same time. So it looks like you're losing a lot of vapor power because half of it is escaping through the top. Steam escapes from the top pad while you mop the floor (with the bottom pad). I can say it doesn't clean as well as my Bissell and I believe that's because steam can escape through the top all the time you're using it. I almost always clean my floors on the same schedule, so the level of soiling is almost always the same, plus or minus an extra accident or two. Also, I know there are certain things I always look forward to when I swipe. like a smudge of ketchup or barbecue sauce on the floor near the edge of a cupboard that someone just couldn't clean for some reason. I usually just have to go over it with my bissell maybe twice and all traces of it are gone. Well, I've walked through this spot with this shark a good 10 or 15 times and there was still a faint whiff of gravy on the floor. My bissell removed immediately. And I'm not talking about thick dried drops. I'm talking about when someone wipes it off and leaves a little smear etc. or it settles on the texture of the floor. Bissell always takes it off the same way anyway, but not this Shark. On the other hand, it cleaned quite well in some places. Of course it was in areas where it wasn't too bad to start with. Edge cleaning is not as good as my other steam mop. The way the pad rolls around the front of the head gives way too much cushioning I think you would call it and it doesn't press on wall coverings etc very well like my other mop. Likewise, it's not good to use the sides of the plastic and the pad as the pad will droop and just ball up. My other mop actually does a good job on those creases and corners, around/against a wall/floor panel, against the bottom of cupboards, etc. Unfortunately, this one doesn't do particularly well in that area. I like the general shape and size of the head, but the pad needs to be more customized to better clean those difficult areas. The cable is disappointing. You say it's just a cable. Well, cords can be big or painful, and this one will be painful. It's like hard plastic. It looks cheap and jingling. When I first unraveled it, it sounded exactly like you were unraveling Christmas lights. and apparently there aren't even any lights on that wire! It's just weird hard plastic and it just rattles. I don't know how else to describe it. This is the type that creases, creases, curls and stays that way. This is not a flexible cable. It doesn't feel rubbery. These types of cables will short circuit faster as the wires inside get bent and snapped due to cable twists etc. The steam boost function is activated by lowering the mop handle. Steam comes out of the throat. Well, by the time the handle is down far enough for the vapor to enter and exit, the head is off the ground and the vapor is shooting against the wall instead of the floor. So I was really excited to try this shark, but was a bit disappointed in a few areas. I would like to see some improvements made to fix some of these issues. This experience doesn't put me off the brand but yeah I'm definitely disappointed and probably wouldn't recommend it.
