This is my first bamboo comforter. It was a very hot summer, and even with the air conditioning on, the temperature in my house would sometimes fluctuate around 80F. It's difficult to sleep without a blanket, but it's also very uncomfortable to sleep under a blanket. A cool bamboo blanket saved the night. It's thick enough like a regular duvet, but stays cool all night. I was a king size so I could drive at night to snag an even cooler seat. This blanket was compressed in a vacuum bag and fluffed up when I cut the bag open. I didn't notice any odor and it's probably ready to use as is. But I also try to wash new clothes in the washing machine. In the dryer it stretches even more and becomes nice and thick. Definitely a good blanket for summer.
