This is a great product, installed through drywall by 2 and has been used by 2 cats for a month. If you use a cut out template and take your time, installation is pretty easy. I used a drill for the pilot holes and a jigsaw for the cuts. The screws won't stay flush with the wall so I recommend using caulk to seal the edges. If you just put screws and connect them directly to the outside of the house, there will be drafts outside. The screws can slip off if not tightened enough, and if the fastener is not centered at all, it will bind. Minor adjustments will be needed during the first week to keep it running smoothly, and you should plan to scrape pet hair off the sides once a week. The magnetic strip on the bottom can make it difficult for cats to get in. We didn't close the flaps the first day, then added one the next day, and a second a few days later. Dogs shouldn't have a problem. Overall a great product, take your time cutting and expect a little draft in any room you install it in.
