Most lawn mowers now have tubeless tires. The problem lies in the shape of the tire when purchased. They don't look like preformed and ready-to-mount car tires. They are usually flat and need some heat to shape them. The tube solves the problem of inflation after fitting a new tire or can weatherproof the tire throughout the mowing season. I've always put inner tubes in my mower tires and they fit perfectly. It's always easier to patch an inner tube than to change a tire.
