I ordered XL for my little golden retriever. He had his left front leg/shoulder amputated last week and I needed something to keep the bandages clean because, well, a golden retriever. We also wanted some (breathable) compression to help wound healing. We tried "human" t-shirts, but they were huge (although I originally used the chipped fabric on the back as a handle to help him down the stairs). I bought them to change my bandage next week. My gold measurement is 20 inches from neck to waist. His torso was 34 inches in circumference, but he was also HEavily bandaged so I couldn't use that measurement. The neck and back sizes were closest, so I went for the XL size. He looks like he's wearing a tank top. Luckily that was my goal. But as a real dog t-shirt, I can't imagine that even a size XXL would fit. When I put this on his head, the longest part of his back barely went past his ribs. I added an image. It's not a huge dog. This is a REALLY small XL t-shirt. I gave her 4 stars because she was really perfect for what I needed. But be careful when buying this for a dog over 45#.
