I really like this balm. after washing your hands, only a slight waxy feeling remains on your hands. others couldn't seem to get the balm off their hands. so this one is acceptable. So far all the balms I've tried have left some wax. This balm rubs into a really light oil. won't make your beard greasy or weigh you down. Overall a great balm. Smells are a slightly different story. They don't smell bad but I have to agree they remind me of bathroom air fresheners. Again, it smells just fine, but I think it needs to be reformatted. really sure they would be a lot more popular if they did. The smells aren't too strong, they seem to linger for a couple of hours. The "bathroom" smell seems to go away and you can't get in. I use this and several other balms in a row and never feel like I should avoid this brand. For me, the four fragrances are in the order of my favorites. 1) bay rum: with this you will also be there. This is the smell you may have heard coming from bathroom air diffusers. smells like cinnamon and chewing gum. I call it hot chewing gum. I like this one the most. 2) Clary Sage: This one reminds me of camping candles. not citronella, but a different kind. slight scent of needles, almost berry-like, but not sweet, a bit pungent. Honestly, I like it a lot, it's number 2. 3) Sandalwood: a slightly woody scent. not to say sweet but in light tones 4) Cedar and Pine: has a kind of sweet musky smell. I hate to say it, but it smells like a new urinal. it's not disgusting. Again I love these balms. You can say what I mean. It's a good smell, but just a smell characteristic of something you may be familiar with. least popular, but still here and there. it's really hard to write that. I love this product but on the other hand I really think the company needs to work with someone to improve their flavors. They received the product but I feel like they skimped on the scents. I would give them a 4 but I can't really fault them just because the smell reminds me of something else. and frankly, the smell grows on you.
