This was my third tower fan. The other two were rated highly but either made too much noise or the remote was too directional/bugy. This is very quiet on low settings and moves just enough air to keep the room comfortable. If you need more wind, the other two higher settings push the air, but they're relatively noisy. The truth is that all of these tower fans are either quiet and weak or adequate and loud. This Vornado was more expensive than the others, but a long warranty and great customer support sealed the deal. If it starts to rattle or break, real people will take the calls and return shipping is free. Who knows how much it will cost to pack and ship something like this. Finally, at around 40 inches tall, this 32-inch model is a nice understated size compared to others I've tried. Ouch. The remote control doesn't beep either, which can be very annoying to others.
