This bear sits 14" high from top of the head to rear; the four added inches (equalling 18) are for adding the legs when they extend. This bear is intended to sit (not stand), so the legs do not fully extend or drop down far; most of the length is in head and torso. I posted video to help people with the question I had: What how does this 18" Teddy bear look and feel in real life? I can tell you it felt smaller than I imagined it would (but I'm not reducing the rating for that). I purchased this bear for an adult family member for Christmas and wanted to make sure it would be substantial enough for cuddling (which it is). While I wish I had shopped some stores first (because it turns out Teddy Bears are everywhere this time of year in all sizes, textures and colors, with great prices and high quality), this bear has a lot of pros:PROS- Cute expression and body- Well made, durable (tough stitching)- Very flexible limbs (so it has a "floppy" feel, which makes it easy to move and cuddle with- Fairly soft (though more curly/soft than plush fur)- Cute neutral color- Sits up well (does not stand, though)- Made in the USA (tag provides all info on that)- Arrived quickly with Prime (in time for Christmas)- The box alone can be worth spending a little extra to buy this online when you need to wrap it and would not otherwise have a box:)CONS- Lesser value than Teddy Bears available in the stores right now for the same price.- Needs a bow around its neck.
