Bought 2 pairs to have more freedom to adjust the length of 2 or more bars depending on how many contact points are available at the moment. To prevent rust, the steel rod is "powder coated" on the outside (it looks more like a black paint to me with a slightly rough texture), but the inside is just bare. I would suggest oiling or painting the inside to prevent corrosion and rust. Although the cost of the item is far below average compared to other products in this category, the item retains its qualities as steel poles are durable, cheap and reliable.
