Tried four AA alkaline batteries for the first time. One of the four AA alkaline batteries died (green light) after about an hour, while the other three continued to charge. I didn't know if it was safe to remove a battery while the machine was still running, so I didn't. I waited for the other three to finish. But while on my PC across from the charger I heard a "pop"... Unfortunately the battery which was green (charged) exploded and acid flowed into the charger. I cleaned it up quickly with paper towels, but I'm not sure if it's safe to use. Someone asked if this unit has "overheat protection" - based on the above I'm guessing it doesn't. I'm not sure if it's safe to remove or add batteries while it's plugged in and charging other batteries. I thought it might shock me if I tried it, but now I'm not sure I should keep using it in this state. UPDATE: Even after cleaning the device, one of the pins holding the battery is stuck. I need to buy a new charger, but I want something that won't overcharge/explode the battery.
