I have serviced the transmission for 110,000 miles and changed the oil and filter. You will need to lower the transmission oil pan (accessible from the underside of the truck - nothing needs to be removed to gain access). Make sure you drop one side of the pan to allow the oil to drain out - there's no drain plug. Also remember to catch the oil in a large drip pan. I used these aluminum baking sheets. It's $2 each and is a great size for this project. If the oil pan fell down, you can pull out the filter. There is a small O-ring on the hose - make sure it comes out with the old filter. If not, use a screwdriver or something to pry it out before inserting a new one. This is "friction". Put in a new filter and it "hangs" in place until you put the oil pan back in place. There is a filler hole on the side of the gearbox. You need some kind of pump to pump the oil from the can into the body. It's easy to do - but pretty messy. In general, not a bad job - easy to do with your own hands. Search for videos on YouTube.
