I have a well and I run water first through the softener and then through the filter pack (pre-filter, main carbon filter and then post-filter). They say to change this filter every 3 months. Of course you forgot, and I did mine after 5 months - only to see that it was barely a tan color. My guess is that the larger debris gets filtered out in the softener (and which auto-flushes from time to time) so little material gets into the filter. I will probably still change the filter every 4 months or so. I could not detect any pressure drop or pressure increase. It's just nice to know he's catching good stuff.
