This hair dryer is one of the more difficult I've used but works quite well. It's still the only one I've ever had to keep the manual for! There should be 2 modes: one with maximum airflow and temperature, and one with reverse (as far as I can tell). You can set the temperature in any mode you use, and the dryer has a memory feature that uses the last temperature and airflow settings. Another important point is that you need to press and hold the power button for a few seconds to turn on the device. . To be honest I'm still working on lowering the settings and figuring out which ones are the most effective and least damaging to my hair. I use an air concentrator to save time on other heating tools. After it dries I can switch to the cool air setting to set the style in place. So far, so good. The weight and handle design is comparable to my other hair dryers.
