These clippers are surprisingly easy to use. I bought them for my 20+ long-haired cat who seems to have forgotten how to groom herself. They work as advertised and I use them for a little bit at a time, until my cat gets bored or irritated and jumps off of my lap.About the noise level. My cat can't stand electrical noises, like vacuum cleaners and garbage disposals, etc., so I was wondering how she'd do with the noise level of the clippers. Here's how I camouflaged the noise, so she doesn't even realize the clippers are on:1. I have a "white noise" app on my smart phone. I use the "fan" setting, turn it on, and place it right beside me, before I pick her up. For whatever reason, the noise coming from the phone doesn't bother my cat.2. Next, I take the clippers and--NOT TURNING THEM ON--just move them across her back as if I'm brushing her.3. Finally, I turn on the clippers (the noise covered by the white noise app) and slowly start using them.So far, my cat doesn't seem to notice when the clippers go active. Fingers crossed, she never catches on.Hope this helps.
