This is one of the worst programmable remotes I've ever tried. The best I can say about this is that it seems to have better range than the others. The button layout is also slightly better than some (except for one of the most used: Power). The ability to program via USB seemed like a great feature. In practice, this was no faster than classic key sequences. The simple things were straightforward, but the web app was pretty non-intuitive for more complex things. I spend as much time figuring out how to use a web app as I do reading instructions for a non-USB remote. This remote control has no backlit buttons or even glowing buttons. A feature that other remote controls in this price range have in common. It is difficult to use in the dark. But by far the most annoying problem will take some time to explain. A little background: many devices have three different "power" signals: on, off, or toggle. The "Switch" option is what the "Power" button on the factory remote sends. Separate codes 'on' and 'off' much better suited to macro-programmable remotes. But this remote seems to be trying to do something 'smart', where successive presses of the power button are repeated between sending 'on' " and "off" alternate instead of just sending a "switch" code. It would be a minor annoyance when the remote got out of sync if the remote didn't also buffer keystrokes. A simple remote sends instantly the code corresponding to the button pressed. If the second button is pressed before the first signal has finished sending, it simply stops sending the first signal and starts sending the second. This remote control will continue to send the first signal for one small fixed amount of time. It remembers the second key press and sends that signal later after the first one is complete. If the power on/off mode doesn't sync with the device and someone presses the power button a second time (for example, (e.g. if the remote sent an "on" message when the device was already on), this leads to an annoying chain of events that need to be fixed. Put the remote away and wait until the device stops turning on and off. This "problem" could be avoided with a little more patience, but in the real world a) this doesn't always happen and b) missed signals due to direction, range, etc. make this problem worse.
