Review on Intel Solid State Drive SATA 2 5 Inch by Jae Newton

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Great ride for the money!

I totally agree with Brian Foreman's review of this product. I bought this drive to replace a Kingston SVP200S3 that was installed at my computer shop on June 1st, 2012 and has already started to fail (< 3 months)! Checking the Intel and Kingston websites gave me a lot of information about the superiority of this Intel SSD. I also purchased the EZ Upgrade 3.0 EZ Gig clone kit from Apricorn from Revain. Cloning my still working but bug-prone Kingston was flawless, and installing a new cloned Intel drive was a breeze - even a caveman could do it! :) I installed this drive in my desktop system with AMD Athlon 64X dual core 2.41 GHz processor and 4 GB RAM (my WinXP Pro SP3 system only recognizes 3.25 GB). I had no trouble physically installing the drive in my desktop PC, the mounting bracket that came with the drive along with cables and screws fitted perfectly! Additionally, the SSD toolbox software provided by Intel is vastly superior to what Kingston offers. I highly recommend this drive, in fact I've just ordered another one for a good friend and neighbor that's running pretty much the same system (hardware and software) as mine. We want to replace his old Seagate mechanical drive before it fails. As happened to me last weekend on Memorial Day when I swapped a dead Seagate for a Kingston SSD. Luckily in this case I had a backup on an external USB drive so I didn't lose any data. As far as I understand, Intel RULES!
