I'm almost never without my MacBook Pro or 12-inch Macbook, but when I'm giving presentations I always need a way to connect my computer to a Projector. I have used this adapter and it has always worked flawlessly. Best of all, a 12-inch MacBook lets me charge my computer during a presentation. Otherwise with only one USB port I had problems before buying because there is only one USB-C port on a 12" MacBook to present people's presentations on my computer. So every time I go for lectures or I'm traveling for presentations, this adapter comes with it. It also has an ethernet port. I once tried to access the wired internet at a hotel with a dongle and ethernet and couldn't get it to work. I'm not sure whether there was a problem with the adapter, my computer, or the internet at the hotel, so I can't vouch for the functionality of the ethernet port, but the USB and HDMI work fine, so I think the ethernet will do as well.
