Best I've ever used: Household fans

I've had several neck fans (thousands of different brands with red arms) that just couldn't handle it and ended up breaking. I use them when playing VR games because these headsets can make your face sweat fairly quickly. I've only had it for 2 months, but everything is fine. The overall quality is better than some that cost double or triple the price, and the battery life is much better. The arms are stiff enough to hold your position without feeling like you're going to break them. The fans blow out about the same amount of air as any other neck fan, and the small fan on the back really helps some people sweat their necks. Now for the less important details. While battery life is good, it seems like it takes forever to fully charge. The battery was dead when I first opened it so I plugged it in but didn't think it was charging because it took a few minutes for the light to start flashing. And then there's that stupid squeak. It beeps when the battery is almost empty and also when you turn off the small neck fan on the back. That thing is way too loud, especially near your ears. One of the first nights I had it, it woke me up in the middle of the night with a loud beeping sound because it had kind of just died, but it only happened once so I don't know, maybe I left it on and didn't understand it. If you use a small neck fan on the back, it turns itself off 30 seconds after turning off the entire device, I don't know why. To be honest, I don't really care about those issues, especially when this thing was only $10. The only thing I recommend, just in case, is to take one of those magnetic charging cables with you so as not to wear out the micro USB connector. I had to throw away the previous fan (different brand) because the connector in it just broke when I tried to connect the cable in one go. That may not be an issue with this fan and it will work just fine, but I thought I'd warn you if you're reading this and considering buying one. Even if the thing breaks for me, it's at least very cheap to replace. I can't comment on how well this thing will perform during training as I have not and will not use it for anything other than the high energy gaming I plan to do in VR. Such fans tend to rotate around the neck after a large movement, but with a lot of weight on the back it doesn't move as much. I definitely recommend this item if you need something loud and portable. to keep you cool It may not have ardent fans, but I doubt this will be a deal breaker for most people as they serve no purpose other than to shine a light in your face.

Pros
  • There's something to it
