Most of the manufacturer's advertising is bullshit, but I'll tell you what you get for your money. This is a cheap electret mic, but I was really impressed with it for $12. The frequency response is surprisingly wide (albeit a bit "spiky") with a lot more bass than usual for these mics. It's not exactly kidney, at best I'd call it a "ragged" bullet. The output level both via the plug and via USB (via the supplied adapter) is certainly sufficient for normal use, ie. Speak at a distance of about 6-12 inches. The noise level is low; The atmosphere in your room is likely to be louder. It does a good job of dropping "pops" (since it's almost omnidirectional), but you might want to invest in a windshield. The low end means you can also invest in a shock to keep the rumble away. There are many terrible mics in this price range, but there are also some gems. This is one of them.
