Mini camcorder for RC devices like drone, view before you buy

I was impressed with the online video recording of the Tachyon Camera and its functions. , so I ordered one as a competition shooting hat cam. While waiting for the camera, I attended a USPSA match where some users had different Hatcam models that I had never seen before. These cameras were much smaller than the Tachyon, could record video at up to 4K, had Wi-Fi connectivity to cell phones that could be used as viewfinders, and were almost three times cheaper than the Tachyon. These are camcorders for RC cars and drones, and there are MANY competing models, all with more advanced features (like 4K, 2.7K, 1080p60fps), but smaller, lighter, and MUCH cheaper ($65-$80) than the Tachyon . And as hatcams, they actually look fantastic. So I returned my tachyon and ordered one of these instead. I didn't switch to save money, but to access advanced features in a smaller, lighter package. Note that the Tachyon is a great sports camcorder. It serves its purpose very well. But it's just that there are many mini camcorders on the market designed for RC cars but can be great hat cameras for filming. Check out Runcam 2, Foxeer Legend 2, Mobius 2 or even Mobius Mini. Neither of them come with weapon mounts or headgear, but they do come with Velcro that can be used to attach to a hat.

Pros
  • The best camera for practical shooting, 2.5 hours of battery life (rechargeable lithium battery)
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
