Review on πŸ”‘ Enhance Home Safety and Hygiene with Lido Keyed Entry Lever: Microban Antimicrobial Protection & SmartKey Security in Polished Brass by Tim Harrington

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The secret step is missing in the instructions.

My new Lido Lever Entry arrived quickly and after a long time with customer service it works great. 5 stars for working with me to get it right. As this set has a lever that sticks out to the side it should be obvious that you need to be able to adjust the grip to suit your conditions (left hand or right hand opening). The set is preconfigured for one direction. So 50% of you don't need the following information. However, if you need the lever on the left side of the lock when looking at the door from the outside, you'll need to flip the handle. Here's the unspoken trick. Follow the installation instructions to the last step which says to replace the handles without telling you how. Half of you will find that you can easily insert the included Allen key and loosen the set screw. The other half will find that the allen wrench only goes in about 1/4 inch and there is no set screw to loosen. This is because the key lock is in the closed position. When locked, the internal mechanism prevents the 3/4" hex key from going through to reach the set screw - on the other side of the entire mechanism. If you don't unlock it, it's impossible to flip the cranks. Unfortunately, this is not mentioned in the instructions. Once me and the tech support figured out this trick, the post-processing was easy and my door works and looks great! I buy a few more because I like opening the door with my elbow while carrying two handfuls of groceries or tools. When I install the next ones I'll take some pictures and update this review showing how to reorient the lock switch (key teeth up or down). Stay with us. Update: That's it. To realign the toggle switch you will need to: 1.) Remove the outer handle (remember it must be unlocked to do this). 2.) Insert a small screwdriver under the retaining ring and pry it out (see photo). 3.) Don't lose that retaining ring or you'll understand why mechanics call them jesus rings. 4.) Remove the toggle switch from the lock, turn it upside down and reinsert it. 5.) Reattach the locking ring and knob. If you encounter a problem in the third step, don't curse. Just buy another set of door handles. Refresh update: Oh Cookie! They won't let me add photos during the update. I will try to write another review and add photos there.
