Ten months ago I bought a set with a silver handle and have already ruined several knives. One accidentally went in the dishwasher, which they were specifically not supposed to do, so it was my fault. The cycle only came off the coating to a matte dark gray. But I've found that if the knives aren't carefully placed on the counter and hand washed before they fall into the sink or sit there for a while, the same thing will happen to the finish. I've never seen anything like it. I don't use them every day and I rarely cook, so it's a shock to think I've ruined FOUR out of 6 in less than a year. And that's after I had the company replace them once before. I'll keep using them until all the trim is rusty, but I definitely won't be buying them again.
