Although the frames will support our 9ft LLBean kayaks they are not very strong. I first mounted them directly into the studs in our garage with the included screws. The screws are cheap and unfortunately easy to remove. Pipe hangers are completely round so they cannot be mounted flush to the pole or wall you have. This is a design flaw because because they're round, they will flex and move or roll sideways against the wall if you put weight on them, no matter how hard you twist them. I don't know why they didn't flatten the back, but I would definitely NOT buy them again. Now they are mounted and I use them (and it will be very difficult to remove the stripped screws) so I will keep them but every time you put the kayak on or off you have to be very careful. Not what I expected and not recommended.
