Review on 🌬️ Vornado EVDC300 Energy Smart Evaporative Humidifier, 1 Gallon Capacity, with Automatic Shut-off and LED Display by Rebecca Harris

Humidifiers are must-have devices in the winter because they help prevent illness and reduce static electricity that can damage your electronics. Over the years I've tried all three types of humidifiers (evaporative, steam, ultrasonic). and found that evaporative humidifiers are best for the following reasons: 1) Steam (warm humidity) humidifiers are VERY expensive to run. As much as an air conditioner in my experience. NOT BAD 2) Ultrasonic humidifiers leave white dust all over the house. NOT GOOD. Evaporative humidifiers are MUCH cheaper than steam humidifiers and don't leave dust behind like ultrasonic humidifiers. Yes you will need to replace the wicks when they stop absorbing moisture and yes you need a good bacteriostatic water treatment such as Essick liquid. But these requirements are still cheaper and easier to manage than other types of humidifiers. I've been using a Lasko 1158 recirculating evaporative humidifier for a while and it has done an excellent job of extending the life of its wick by pumping water. from the reservoir and drips onto the wick. Unfortunately, the Lasko's build quality was mediocre and the machine was quite noisy when in operation. I previously had a Vornado Evap40 block and was considering buying another one. But that machine is quite an old model at the moment, and it also made a loud "GLOOG-GLOOGH-GLOOGH" noise when its cans were emptied. However, the Evap40 includes some welcome improvements: 1) Its DC motor draws less power, but that's not a big deal considering we're dealing with a fan blowing air through wet wicks. In any case, fans do not consume that much energy. 2) The machine will turn off automatically when the jugs run out of water. This helps prolong the life of the wicks by preventing them from drying out prematurely. 3) Power saving mode is on. The fan turns on and off at a very low and silent speed. Unfortunately, I found that even though I add a bacteriostatic liquid to the water, after a few weeks the humidifier started giving off strange odors when I was using it on sleep mode. Apparently at very low speeds the fan isn't blowing enough air to keep the wicks moist enough. So I set the power saving mode on and had no issues with unpleasant odors when the device turns on and off at turbo speed. Also, this humidifier is very easy to clean; all parts rise directly from the lower water pan. The two water jugs each hold a gallon of water and are well designed. They fit under the kitchen sink faucet for easy filling and their tops seal well. Each pitcher has a handle for easy carrying. In turbo mode, the humidifier tosses four gallons of water per day, requiring you to refill the jugs twice a day. After all, the humidifier works relatively quietly. No noise GLUG GLUG GLUG, and even at maximum speed the fan only emits a low hum, in contrast to Lasko's agricultural roar. The attractive modern design and compact dimensions should also be emphasized. All in all, Vornado has a winner. which I hope will serve me for many years to come. ADVANTAGES:* Low power consumption.* Very quiet operation.* Easy to clean.* Easy to fill water jugs.* No white dust in the house.* Attractive design, compact size. CONS: * The wick needs to be replaced when it loses its absorbency. * Bacteriostatic treatment recommended. UPDATE: When I came back to edit my review, I read about the issues some customers were having with the leaks. Sip - Haven't had any problems so far and noticed that each pitcher had a warning label saying NOT to twist the pitchers when installing or removing them from the base. Is it possible that other customers have had leakage issues after accidentally twisting the jugs? I'll let you know if I have any problems with the leak.
