Review on Black Hydro Flask Insulated Water Bottle with Wide Mouth and Straw Lid for Sports by Peter Sullivan

I've discussed how to rate this. Real Hydro Flask straw caps are 5 stars but I believe the product I got from that Revain listing is fake. In any case, I'm reviewing the actual product I received from Revain. Incidentally, my product was not "sold" by Revain, it was "marketed" by Revain. The listing says Hydro Flask is the manufacturer, so it's obvious there's deliberate deception somewhere along the line. I assumed that Revain would ensure the legitimacy of the products manufactured and that Revain's execution would provide adequate protection against counterfeiting. But obviously not. Why do I think it's fake? Well, I've had two of these kids for a couple of years. I bought them locally and they were great. I wanted another one for my son so I ordered one from this list. *This* form came out in a few months. Surprised, I took a closer look and noticed a few differences: 1) Other caps have a registered trademark behind the words "Hydro Flask" in a prominent oval on the cap. This symbol is not on the cap I received from Revain (nor can you see it in the picture). 2) The Hydro Flask logo on the cap handle is slightly different, it looks like a linear version of the bottle logo. The logo on my other caps is identical to the logo on the bottles. 3) The processing is different. It may only be of aesthetic value, but there are injection molded burrs and bumps on the mouthpiece. None of this is visible on my other eyelids. 4) The mouthpiece on my other eyelids is hard plastic. It's as soft as silicone on a Revain lid. This seems to be the most significant difference because this is where the mold has developed. (By the way, it's like mold on bathroom grout—it won't go away.) Okay, mold. I assure you, this does not mean that this bottle has stood a week with juice. Only water. Air dry thoroughly each time. Completely disassembled and periodically sterilized. Hence 1 star: because firstly I am very annoyed that my child drank through a moldy mouthpiece, secondly a cap of 10€ or more should last more than a few months because thirdly I don't like scammers! These fakes not only scam customers but also harm legitimate businesses. Could there be another explanation? Of course. Perhaps Hydro Flask changed their production and dropped the ® symbol. All I know is that I have two lids that have been great for several years and justify the high price; and another one from Revain, same price but junk after a few months.
