I bought this for an interior kitchen door leading to a laundry room and now I realize the hard plastic door, gasket and magnetic catch are really meant for an exterior door . It's made airtight, which means it's difficult to open. Your cat must be determined enough to give it a strong headbutt to open it. Despite the fact that my kitten can open any kitchen cupboard, he couldn't understand what it was like to bang his head on the door and instead rummaged around to no avail. I ended up removing the hard plastic door. Since we cut a hole in the door I tried to find a hinged door to replace it but I gave up. It's a good solid block, but it's just not user-friendly.
