bought ONLY for the graduated morning light, for no other function. That works great. It lights up the room - unlike the diffuse light of the morning sun, let's be honest, no lamp can do that - and makes me less sleepy when I wake up in the morning. I was very skeptical that the sunrise clock would work, but it does! Now I think I need a second one to light up the other side of the room and mimic the rising sun as closely as possible. These features aren't easy to use - hard to change - but since I only use them for Sunrise, it's easy to work with. I haven't tried the alarm clock (I use another alarm clock to wake up), sounds, sunset light, etc. and don't need it. What prevented me from giving it 5 stars - BE CAREFUL! Gets HOT. I mean burn your hand HOT. Be very careful where you place this and I would not use it around young children.
