Installed today on a 2001 Camry on the driver's side - replacing an engine that was dead. I expect this replacement to last the rest of the vehicle's life. If not I will try to update it accordingly. Performance is way better than the dying engine it replaced. I used a few YouTube videos to see how the repair is done and was able to do it myself in a couple of hours with this engine, probably saving a few hundred mechanical parts and labor. The only difficult job for me was reattaching the window to the controller and making sure it was in place. After a few months of use, the window started stuttering when moved up and down. Inspection revealed that the engine had moved away from the regulator due to a defect in the threaded faucets. The valves, which are essentially metal cylinders, were physically separated from the plastic that attached them to the engine. Attempts to tighten the bolts resulted in the valves simply turning in the body. I had to rip them out and glue them with super glue. I hope it holds up now, but that doesn't mean anything. The upgrade should include taps that can somehow handle the torque without separating from the plastic body. EDIT 2: December 2nd 2015 The motor fell off the regulator yesterday after months of shaking the window up and down. Apparently my previous field repair failed miserably. Too bad I couldn't break out of the department for even a year. Now I'm trying the Cardone motor - I hope it lasts. sigh.
