Review on BOXI Thermostat Mountaineer 2L2Z8592BA 2L2Z8592AA by Ryan Marx

Cheap is not worth the time!

The screws holding the thermostat housing were of poor quality and sheared off trying to attach them to the housing. I was fortunate that I kept the original bolts and nuts from the stock body. Otherwise I would have to go to the hardware store for new ones. To mount the housing on the intake manifold, the thermostat housing cover must be removed. The hole for the temp sensor was too big, I had to put sealant on the new o-ring to keep it from leaking. Cheap fix for now, hopefully it will last a while before it starts leaking. Next time I'll go for an all-aluminum case with new screws and gaskets.

Pros
  • Replacement parts
Cons
  • Obsolete model
