I wanted to try a different set of wire strippers and bought these because they looked the best for field stripping. I'll admit I was disappointed when I took them out of the box and found there was no room for the gauge of wire you were stripping. You answer them by sizing the wire and stripping it properly. I was skeptical. Then I tried them, I "practiced" stripped wire from 12 gauge with very hard insulation to 24 gauge with very soft insulation. He carefully stripped both (and everything in between) without damaging the underlying copper wire. In fact, I was a bit taken aback by that. Then I used them on a project last night and stripped both ends of 24 pieces of wire with no errors and nice clean wire ends. I'm convinced they really work and are better than the anvil type. Strippers that I have been using for many years. They are also very light, which is a good advantage. The only thing I don't like is the depth limiter. I often only want to strip eight/three sixteen inch wire for use on circuit boards, the built in stopper is not that short. Not a big deal, you just have to see it with your own eyes, but would have liked a shorter stop.
