Review on Norpro Deluxe Cherry Pitter Suction by Michelle Collins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Best Stoner I've Ever Used

This Norpro 5121 Deluxe Cherry Stoner is the best stoner I've ever used and I've tried at least five types. There isn't one I would consider fast, easy to use, and able to remove 100% of cores, but Norpro comes closest. Assembly instructions are included and it is very important to read them carefully. After washing and assembling the parts to install the pitcher, I used the sucker to attach it to the kitchen counter. I pulled the red ripe cherries, washed and peeled from the stems, from the bowl and filled the top bowl of the jar. The cherries fall into place one by one. If you like, you can adjust each cherry so that the pits are removed from above through the indentation where the stem used to be. I've made about two dozen this way to set aside for decorative purposes. After that, I let each cherry fall freely into place, pressed and released the black bulbous plunger. The sound of the pit falling can be heard until the pit tank begins to fill. In most cases, releasing the plunger was enough for the pitted cherries to pop out and roll freely into the side bowl. I tried to walk fast but the cherries were stuck to the stem or I wasn't sure if one of them was pitted, forcing me to stop. The process worked best when I got into a steady rhythm, throwing away about a dozen in thirty seconds, and then refilling the tray. It took an entire evening to remove ten pounds of cherries. I've tried pits that squeeze and mash cherries. With Norpro almost all cherries appeared intact except for the stalk holes (as with olives). I rate it five stars as the best I've ever used.
