Seals break too easily, replacement costs are too high!

I bought this stoner because it's cherry season. I like the design and the ease of use. In theory, this thing is awesome. The problem is that the 2 pads that come with it are very cheap. After a handful of cherries ripped through the first, the second soon did as well. The stoner still works, but the cherries without spacers have gone bad. The company has included a cost sheet for replacing parts. The cost per pad is $4 per pad plus $4 shipping and handling fee. So if I were to replace 2 pads…

Job Done for Corers & Pitters

It gets the job done. There are some bad design decisions that make the crutch difficult to use, but overall it did what I needed and I was able to peel 10 pounds of cherries in under 2 hours (I removed the stems most of the time). The handle is more like a push and pull on the top to make sure the cherry pops out. The truck bed holds about 10 cherries but they seem to slip before I'm done and sometimes slide right into the bowl so I just guided them with my other hand. The ladle doesn't sit…

Unreliable: Kitchen Utensils and Gadgets

My mother had one years ago, the plastic was yellow. I've always found this so efficient which is why I finally bought one for freezing cherries in bulk. It makes a huge squishy mess so I used it on a decking table. HOWEVER, after using it to remove about 8 cups of cherries, I accidentally saw a couple of pits in my bowl. I started checking the pitted cherries and ended up going through each one: About 1 out of 7 cherries still had a pit inside, DESPITE the cherries were pierced with a pit…

Great job removing the cherries!

This thing is awesome. Assembly was easy. I can walk through cherries at a pretty good speed. If I keep my hand on the tray and drop them one at a time, I can eject them about every two seconds. I've found that when the pit container is full, you've cooked about 3 cups of cherries or so. Two circles of these are enough for a cake. If you miss the exit pit, you'll pretty much know. The only problem I have is that sometimes the cherry doesn't come out of the chute. I've found that if you pull…

Much more efficient than digging by hand!

It really helped me to cut the sour cherries from the tree in our garden. I made enough (about 2 gallon bags) in one night to bake a few pies and a cobbler! I would give it 5 stars except that it sometimes misses the pit (the cherry falls through instead of pitting while the pit works). The best method I found was to give the piston a hard nudge and then let it rebound at its own speed. This ejected a cherry from the pit's shaft and hurled another into the pit's shaft. Once I found the rhythm…

Pass this product on if you want all the cherries pitted

It didn't work. I was excited to receive this product. I'm tired of using 5 cherry pits at once and I love cherries so I wanted something faster. When I first used it I had my grandkids here. As a result, many cherries still had pits. I thought because most of them were made by kids they kind of missed the boxes. So I gave it 2 more tries. Unfortunately, it is not easy to tell if holes are missing. Yes, they come out in one cup, but it's not easy to see them all come out. You pull the trigger…

Great Pitter - buy now to get rid of the stress!

Buy this cherry pit if you want to pit enough cherries for a cake, cobbler or other dessert. Use a manual cherry jug for breakfast cereal or small batches. I've had other large pitters over the years that were horrible to use and this is by far the easiest. My old Pitters were donated to Goodwill. I removed a pound of cherries in minutes without removing just three pits. But I feel like it's my fault that I learned the car by speeding. I've developed a technique to pop cherries when they don't…

Best Stoner I've Ever Used

This Norpro 5121 Deluxe Cherry Stoner is the best stoner I've ever used and I've tried at least five types. There isn't one I would consider fast, easy to use, and able to remove 100% of cores, but Norpro comes closest. Assembly instructions are included and it is very important to read them carefully. After washing and assembling the parts to install the pitcher, I used the sucker to attach it to the kitchen counter. I pulled the red ripe cherries, washed and peeled from the stems, from the…

30 pounds of pitted cherries fast!

I purchased this item after reading the positive reviews and thought you couldn't beat the price. Although I'm now convinced that it can't get any better for the price. We opened the box, assembled it, and set about removing 30 pounds of cherries. Quite a lot of work, but this little pitter flew through it all. A few things I noticed while using it made it more successful. Some reviewers have complained that the cherries get stuck. I found that by dipping and then pulling all the way out I…
