We have a large Thermador hood with motor and fan outside the kitchen. The fan started making a lot of noise and the service company said the fan was covered in grease and wanted to replace the entire unit for $700. We said thank you but no. After a couple of unsuccessful weekends trying to remove the fan cover from the motor shaft I googled for the answer and found this tool and youtube video. For $50 and a little cleaning of the fan, we eliminated the noise and was up and running again in a few hours. The tool quickly and easily removes the gridded fan hub from the shaft. What a wonderful find. I'm sure it will be difficult for me to use again, but it was worth it. Works perfectly. Properly built. Made in the USA. What more do you want! I believe this is actually designed to work with HVAC, but the Thermador exhaust fan is the same type of device.
