As an IT professional, I rarely buy a new computer because I can repair or assemble it myself. So I bought a used HP business desktop off eBay that had no storage or RAM. I thought simple enough: I just pop in my 1TB hard drive from my other old computer and pop in the 4GB PC3 1600 Unbuffered that I already have. I thought it was a $20 bargain until I put the RAM in and started hearing those constant long beeps that meant bad RAM. I tested the RAM on another system that supports the same type of memory and it worked fine, so I thought I bought a bad computer. This allowed me to use the 2GB version of this memory card. I bought a 4GB version here, the DNA is loaded for sure. Lesson learned: not all flash drives are created equal. Memory cards with the same specifications do not always work on every PC that supports this type of memory.
