Good but unexciting point-n-shoot technology

This camera was meant to be an upgrade from the Canon PowerShot A570IS. My first thought after unboxing this camera was "wow, this thing is small and light". I also appreciate that it has a rechargeable battery, although that was also an issue. You can usually find AA batteries almost everywhere, but what happens when you run out of battery power? The problem is that the battery lasts quite a long time. A hundred photos and still going. And the rechargeable battery uses a standard USB cable, so you can charge it via computer, USB wall charger or USB wall charger. However, charging takes several hours when the battery is almost empty. Another nice touch was that a 2GB SD card was included in the box, rather than a 52MB card (like some companies do). After charging and setting up the camera, which was incredibly easy, I couldn't wait to start testing. I didn't know how much I was going to miss the image stabilization feature until it was gone. In fact, I thought this was a pretty standard issue for cameras these days (it's one of the advertised features that bribed me), but I was wrong. If your hand trembles or you accidentally twitch while taking photos, this will be noticed. Also, this camera doesn't handle moving subjects very well - at *any* different settings. With that in mind, I found this camera to take nice pictures in well-lit areas, especially outdoors with still subjects. . Images became fragmentary in room lighting: the resulting images were grainy even when using the flash. lasts so damn close and forever while the camera thinks about how to focus and how long it takes to prepare for the *next* photo. On the plus side, this is a sturdy little camera. While it might not stand up to the antics of a toddler, I've been known to toss my camera in my purse (no case) and walk away. And in my purse is not hospitable. Aside from a small scratch on the edge, this camera has withstood all my bullying. Once I got used to the temperament of this camera (meaning being careful with hand position and lighting, and increasing my patience a bit), the quality of my shots also improved. a camera, it's handy to have on hand, especially for the price (less than a hundred is a lot more than it's not worth).
