Our cat figured out how to open the gate by scratching. These pet gates provide a barrier against this while still allowing air to pass through. Cats have a chance to look outside and enjoy the fresh air while being reminded not to go outside! This works for us, but won't stop a very determined dog or a child who is pushing or running at them hard! I love that it comes with a second set of adhesive hooks and no holes to drill in our new sliding door!
