My wife could never master the traditional corkscrew or any other opener for that matter. I've bought many different openers and she's still struggling. If I'm on my way to work and she needs to open a bottle after a busy day with our kids, I'll immediately get a sharp call about her wine needs. I even limited myself to informing my neighbors when I was out in case they needed to open a bottle. After seeing such an opener at a friend's, I decided to try a different type of opener. I didn't have high hopes that she would work well as she couldn't handle anything before. After spending hundreds of dollars on bottle openers over the past 10 years, I lost hope of ever going on a business trip again without being fined for not being able to open their wine. I can be the father of her children, a home handyman. and much more, but perhaps my wife's most important job is opening wine. And I never hear the end of it when I'm not available. However, this discovery gave me the freedom to travel. I daresay it even comforts me when I go to a baseball game with friends and not spend a week in disfavor because the wine couldn't be opened in my absence. It just works fine. And it saved my marriage. At least for now as I'm sure some other bug will be found, but at least I know she'll be able to open her wine and hopefully forget that bug.
