Review on HIKARI Conversion Headlight Flickering Resistor by Michael Godo

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Didn't work on 2008 Subaru Outback

I bought Hikari H7 headlights, 9005 high beams and 9006 fog lights for my 2008 Subaru Outback. When I turned the lights off, only the high beams flickered (they technically turn on and off very quickly). Upon examination, it appears that the flickering is due to either a lack of power or a communication failure between the car's computer and the headlight's electrical system. I bought three matching Hikari resistors - one set for H7 bulbs, one set for 9006 bulbs and another set for 9005 bulbs. A few headaches and $60 later I'm still in the same position. The high beams still flash when I turn off the lights. To make matters worse, the H7 headlight resistor is very difficult to install. The headlight bulb has a screw cap, so you will need to drill a hole in the cap to put the wire through. I'm sure they're installed correctly as the lights won't turn on unless they're properly connected. Make sure they work before drilling holes in the lid.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
