I bought 2 devices for my teenagers for Christmas (3 months ago). I spent more than I planned, but these devices are multifunctional and I figured my kids would use them more often because of their multipurpose capabilities. it didn't sound good, for our purposes it wouldn't be a fair deal. Upon arrival I compared the sound to my wife's JBL OnStage (original) - we have enjoyed the quality of the JBL OnStage for years and indeed - I considered the JBL Charge before settling on the AXX 200. In my opinion the SB AXX 200 sounded better than our OnStage - I used the Control Panel software to tweak the sound (using the equalizer to give my son more bass). Imagine that it will be further developed in the future. Let me comment on the specifics: Usage disclosure Son = Google Nexus 5 phone Daughter = iPhone 5 BLUETOOTH functionality - Easier to connect to my son's Google NFC enabled phone than an iPhone. This is not a shortcoming of the AXX 200, but a shortcoming in the NFC convenience of the iPhone. VOICE RECORDER - My kids don't use it, but my daughter mentioned that she plans to use it to record (take notes) her school lectures. BUILT IN - IN MP3 PLAYER - My kids use it all the time, especially my son. He uses it when he doesn't feel like plugging in or using his phone's battery. MOBILE WIRELESS SYSTEM FOR TELECONFERENCES. My daughter uses this very often. She seems to enjoy the speakerphone - and she can use the phone while she's doing her makeup or hair :). The voice recording quality of the microphone(s) is very similar to a Polycom conference speaker. KARAOKE ON THE GO - Daughter loves to sing - she plays with the karaoke function every now and then. PORTABLE BATTERY - Ironically, I thought this would be the biggest feature, but instead my kids "LOVE" the fact that they don't have to charge their speaker - rated for 15 hours, we didn't measure it, but kids say it does for each long event plus lasts a few days before recharging. They like the LEDs that tell them how much battery is left. Features they didn't use but others could use: alarm/siren and megaphone. this speaker.---Update 6/6/2016 --------------------------------------- -- ------------ My son's CL Sound Blaster AXX 200 was left in the charger --- the unit started smoking, then the fire was --- quickly blown out and it exploded.
