I took this camping and it failed miserably. It had not rained yet but the moisture was in the air. Tried to light some cotton balls soaked in alcohol. fail. How does it not light alcohol? Then tried dry cotton ball. Nope. I tried to light my jet boil, then use the jet boil to light the cotton balls soaked in alcohol. Forget about it, not enough umf. Then the moisture in the air must have sucked the battery dry because it was dead flat. I charged it up on my portable battery and it was good to go in the tent. Got it outside to try again and dead flat again. I wouldnt be so hard on a cheap lighter like this but I got really cold and there was nothing I could do about it because of this lighter. It would probably do great on candles in a house with no wind or moisture in the air. Maybe if you want to give you child a safe lighter that allows them to feel the illusion of power as they believe they hold the tool of ultimate destruction in their hands. I wouldnt take it camping again.
