Review on πŸ“ PMMR FLAT16: Flatback ProCarpenter Measuring Tool with Graduations by Patrick Hamilton

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Another great Fastcap product

I bought a true 32 metric tape in Fastcap (blue) and I really liked it. Far superior to any other roulette I've played many times. It's highly legible on a white background and reversible, which means the graduations are printed on both sides of the band, so no matter how you read, the numbering is always right. The white band can be written on with a pencil, allowing you to easily repeat measurements with less chance of error. The pencil sharpener didn't work very well but I mostly use mechanical pencils so it doesn't affect my use. . The gradations are printed the same as Blue True-32, but the ribbon is flat. That said, it's for panel layout measurement only, but that's why I got it. With a regular curved tape measure, you'll need to tilt it so you can accurately mark the pencil mark on the sheet. With a flat back, sizing panels (or other flat surfaces) is much easier and more convenient. Interestingly, the hook is fixed at the end of the tape, unlike other tape measures where it has some slack to account for the width of the hook when taking "internal" measurements when you press the hook against something. This is because the flat-backed tape is completely flexible and cannot support itself in any way, making it impossible to take "inside" measurements when you press the hook onto something. This is not a disadvantage as it fits the specific purpose of this tape measure. This is a specific roulette for a specific purpose. It's great for that one task, but not so great for everything else. If you use it for panel layout and labeling, be sure to do so. If you're looking for a metric tape measure for more general use, get the True 32 tape measure. Also, the tape measure on this page is red, while the flat tape measure is actually gray.
