Now I have 3 of them.

First of all to those people who complain that you can't use them for pressing, well that's how flat tape measures work, they're designed for measuring. If you need to measure something in between, attach and hook the piece to the object to be measured. The same goes for the fixed end, which you can't slide through a flat belt, so there doesn't need to be any specific play at the end of the belt. Ok, now an overview. I love this role. I do weldments for the medical industry and have not had aโ€ฆ

Find a place in my tool chest

Where has it been all my life? Calculations in metric units are much easier than in inches. I will be using this flat tape measure for marking woodworking and metalworking projects. It's also handy for things around the house, like arranging custom-sized picture frames. It's nice that it still has markings every 16 inches to locate the posts. It won't replace regular 1 inch sheet tape for things like construction projects, but is useful in many cases. As some others have said, the return spring

Not suitable for metric woodworking

While this item appears to be well made, it has a couple of fatal flaws that only make it useful in a single instance. This is a metric tape measure. I bought this on purpose because I am converting to metric for my woodworking hobby. I chose it because it's metric on both sides, black and red ink on white and flat. I find this arrangement makes accuracy a bit easier. However, this measure is completely useless for the installation of machine protection devices for router tables, circular table

Pros
  • Measuring tape
Cons
  • Poor instructions

Another great Fastcap product

I bought a true 32 metric tape in Fastcap (blue) and I really liked it. Far superior to any other roulette I've played many times. It's highly legible on a white background and reversible, which means the graduations are printed on both sides of the band, so no matter how you read, the numbering is always right. The white band can be written on with a pencil, allowing you to easily repeat measurements with less chance of error. The pencil sharpener didn't work very well but I mostly useโ€ฆ
