I have had this product for a little over a year. It worked fine on Win XP, but with the switch to Win8, photos aren't scanned directly to the PC, it just goes to the memory card and then needs to be transferred to the PC. Tried running programs in XP compatibility mode but that didn't solve the problem. Tried to contact support and found that PanDigital filed for bankruptcy in 2012 and Sunglow was only formed to take over PanDigital. The Sunglows website is primitive with no support and when I called the toll free customer service number listed on the website all I got was a record of vacation deals, cruises, $100 gift cards, etc. If you're willing to take the risk, an inexpensive scanner to buy that does not have proprietary support, the scanner works. It doesn't always feed straight and you have to be very careful when inserting the photo to make sure it scans straight. It has a strange file system in that the scanner software automatically sets up the folder for the scans to be placed in under the file you select and they are automatically numbered. If you want some photos to end up in your wedding folder, select that folder with the software and PanDigital will create a folder in your wedding folder called Photo1 and all scans will automatically go there with number PD001. , PD002, etc. You can then rename them if needed. You now have some photos that you want to send to your family folder. Select this folder with the software and PanDigital will create a new folder under it called "Photo1" and start numbering from PD001, PD002 etc. The problem occurs when you don't rename your photos and want to move some photos later. in different folders. You have multiple photos with the same automatic numbering system assigned to them by PanDigital. Very messy and time consuming, and with photos with duplicate names, it's very easy to remove photos you think are duplicates. It's ok but I wouldn't buy it again.
