Review on 🚿 Frameless Shower Door Bottom Sweep with Drip Rail - 36" Length - For 1/2" Glass by Chris Hossain

Fits my 1/2 inch thick shower glass and comes in a very tall box to prevent bending. My first shower floor replacement after years of use in a renovated shower. Of course, I didn't realize the original was breaking at the bottom until my significant other mentioned it to me. Okay, I tend to overlook things that make me work, but figured I couldn't kill myself fixing this. I read a few reviews and found that there were some sizing issues so I measured the thickness of the glass a couple of times just in case. I looked on YouTube how to do it just in case and it looked like a doable project with a few tools (hacksaw and maybe flat razor scraper, Xacto razor, trauma scissors). After removing the original by hand pulling, I had to use a razor sharp flat bladed scraper to scrape off the silicone the installer was using. The instructions for the product indicate that this is not required, so I have not used it. I actually watched the first installer and remembered that he used these plastic "spacers" to increase the depth of the bottom railing because the shower door wasn't quite flat when aligned with the shower steps. So when I took the original off, the spacers were there and I roughly marked where they were. After cleaning the original of dirt and cleaning the glass with the Windex, I started the installation by simply pressing the inside closer to the wall, and after it powered on I pushed it all the way down. This was necessary because I couldn't mount it on the wall between the step and the door. Sliding it all the way down it was easy to snap the other sections into place. At this point I left the spacers. I thought I was done so called my soul mate and asked if everything was ok. Of course not, and the door didn't close all the way. So adjustments had to be made. First I put the spacers back where I found them and then I had to cut about 1/2 inch of the end of the part where the door actually meets the glass frame. This was also done on the original part so that the protruding portion of the "deflector" actually prevents the door from closing flush. To do this I used an Xacto razor to cut off a piece and then trauma shears to cut it off. I'm sure there was a more efficient way to do this, but I was just trying to finish this. I didn't siliconize it as I saw the water was already on the original and the silicon didn't help. Overall it took me about an hour to complete from start to finish, but I'm a bit methodical. Good product but time will tell how long it lasts. Much luck.
