Let me start by saying that I rarely give any item that I buy 5 stars. I made an exception with this purchase. Okay, this item looks exactly like the remote control that came with my Harbor Breeze fan. This remote used 9 volt batteries like it was the new shrimp cocktail dish at Red Lobster Restaurant. That's why I bought this remote control. However, when I received the remote, I noticed that the 4th DIP switch on the old remote wasn't fully on and therefore probably draining the battery excessively. I blocked the 4th micro switch and put a new battery in the new remote control. First I will see which remote control requires a battery change. I bet it will be an old remote control given its age. This remote is over 13 years old and I'm willing to bet that capacitors are becoming marginal. In short I am satisfied with the replacement, the fan works as expected and works as expected.
