Great things. I updated an old Avocent I was using. 4 ports connected to two Macs, Linux and Windows 10. A Mac is a laptop. So operating system Windows 10, OSX Catalina, OSX Big Sur and Linux is Ubuntu 18. I tried it with 3 keyboards. Initially I used a standard 104 key keyboard because I read in other reviews that there is no way to turn off the beep. (Ctrl-Ctrl-B-Enter to toggle it.) So with this keyboard I was able to turn off the beep, then I plugged in my Apple Magic Keyboard which has multimedia keys. So I first turned off the hotkey, plugged it in, and then tried to use it. It worked! I've been very happy. The play/next/volume buttons worked as I had hoped. But! Even better, when I toggled the key, the media keys continued to work, as did the hotkeys. This allows me to adjust the audio volume on Mac, use the function keys on Windows, and then [Ctrl-Ctrl-1-Enter] switch to Computer on 1 (Mac). So it works even better than I expected based on the reviews. I can say the switch isn't instant, but I've had KVMs before, the switch is never instant. And it only takes a few seconds. You can make it faster by disabling hibernation on other computers, and I've done this for Linux since it's a server anyway, so it's always on. But other computers go to sleep after a while, so I like to switch to them and then have to press the spacebar to wake them up. It's a little smaller than I expected from the photos. Another reason I chose this model was that it has standard USB ports and standard HDMI ports. I wanted a longer cable in case the cables ever break or something happens. I've had KVMs that use special cables and you have to seek and find them when making changes. For me, this is a big plus of this model. Finally, the cables aren't labeled 1, 2, 3, 4 or anything, so I added color coding to them (see image). It was very easy to do and makes it easier for the next person or me :) if I need to find the right cable later. Of course, with 4 ports, that's probably overkill, but adding them was easy. 3.5mm audio jacks also work, but I'm using a USB headset so I won't be using those, that's what I was mainly curious about. Audio over HDMI also works. I would recommend it :) Great KVM.
