I have to admit that I was one of those people who almost never cleaned their brushes. Basically I waited until the brush was so full of product that the old color contaminated the new color to the point where it didn't look right and then just threw it away. While I know this wasn't good practice for a number of reasons, I've been doing this for years. I have this little gadget and I can say that I never have to throw away the brush because it's dirty again. I've tried cleaning brushes by hand before and didn't like it. I always had so much product on hand that I felt like I would never get it. I also felt like I could never get enough product out of my brushes without digging in with my nails, which ruined my nails and damaged my brushes. I tried using a brush cleaning mat which got them cleaner than by hand but to really clean them I rubbed them hard on the mat which damaged them. So even though it did a better cleaning job, it damaged the brushes. Then I found this gadget. I want to point straight out of the gate. DO NOT FILL THIS MORE THAN HALF. It becomes a big mess if you set it high. After adding the brush cleaner, I pressed the button once on low speed and watched the cleaner remove all makeup leaving my hands clean. The stick has multiple attachments and among the 5 options I was able to find one that fits everyone. my brushes. But I would like to point out something. The wand spins very quickly at high speed. Since there is only a maximum and a minimum, you must choose one or the other. I found that at high speed, softer brushes with long bristles would kind of spin and the brush would change shape. For this reason I would only use high speed for small brushes or compact brushes. Things like an eyeshadow brush, a foundation brush, or even a lip brush. Softer brushes such as powder, blush or blending brushes should only be brushed at a lower speed. Cleaning your brush with this device still takes about a minute, so be patient. Turning on the high speed doesn't really clean your brush that much faster, and it really affects the shape of the bristles on thinner brushes. Overall I really think this does a great job of cleaning my brushes. It keeps my hands clean, which I really like, and doesn't take up much desk space. I'm glad I found it.
